Relaxation

True relaxation is so hard in this hectic and stressful world of ours. Life's problems seem to pile upon us and get worse by the day, who can truly say that they can relax and unwind.

Our jobs can be so stressful that we cannot escape from the pressure. Even our home life can sometimes add to our burden, overwhelming us to the point that we feel we must escape or perish.

Western society has the highest level of depression and suicide anywhere in the world, especially 16 to 25 year olds. Yet we still push our children harder and harder to excel and give them less time to truly relax.

Be peaceful, be calm, be effective.

Next time you feel stressed, try this simple exercise:

  • Find a quiet place
  • Sit or lay comfortably and close your eyes
  • Take ten deep slow breaths and imagine a river flowing through your mind. Let the river take your problems one at a time.
  • If stray thoughts keep jumping into your mind, just spit them out and go back to the river.

With practice, this simple technique will help you to focus on the important things in your life.
